Some stories like “This is my fourth year doing TriathaMom and I’ve lost 60 lbs. There are so many stories of people overcoming amazing obstacles and have used our TriathaMom event as something to help push them. As part of registration we ask them “what's your story, why are you doing this?” and we read the stories as they’re crossing the finish line. Maybe it's the first race of any kind they've done. Many moms sign up almost a year in advance, and many have trained for 10 months+ for this event. We provide bounce houses, cotton candy, sign making stations and other things to help entertain the kids and dads during the race. ![]() We wanted to put on a welcoming, family event with a carnival type atmosphere. Maybe they don’t think they have adequate equipment. The whole idea of TriathaMom is “beginners encouraged, experts welcome.” This is a perfect event for those who want to try a triathlon, but maybe feel intimidated or don’t think they can. It’s a women’s only pool swim, sprint triathlon. One of the most rewarding experiences that I have had is being a part of TriathaMom, We absolutely love putting that on. You can see the marks from their tools and also where they carved their names into the stones.Being a part of the Triathlon community is awesome. And, the path takes you to where the original pioneer settlers of Saint George carved out the rocks that form the base of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints temple. It offers some really neat views of Saint George that you don’t usually see. The latter type causes less sleepiness than does Benadryl. Take an oral nonprescription antihistamine (Benadryl) or one with loratadine (Alavert, Claritin, others). After the rocky steps of the first 100 yards, this is a nice, well-maintained dirt path. These tips might help reduce the itch: Apply a corticosteroid cream or an anti-itch lotion, such as those that contain calamine. I’m not sure if you can really call this a hike. Here is a pin on google maps to help you find it – PIN. Dogs are not allowed, but there are bathrooms nearby. It’s perfect for Kayaking or paddle boarding. This Ivins lake recently got an upgrade with a clean sandy beach and a designated swimming area. So, a list of locals favorite things to do would have to include Fire Lake Park. Ivins Reservoir – Fire Lake Parkīecause of the Saint George heat, one of the locals favorite things to do is head to any water. But, our group got plenty and we were only there for about 1/2 an hour. It’s amazing how the scorpions light up!! I never did try to catch one – too creepy for me. Make sure to wear tennis shoes (no sandals!) Go in a big group so you can spread out and shine your lights. The warmer the weather the easier they are to find. Head to any of the warm Saint George red cliffs. This is the creepiest thing I may have ever done! But, it was also so fun! Just grab some blacklight flashlights ( here are some on Amazon), some tongs and a bucket. So, some neighborhoods will hold annual scorpion hunts to try to lower the numbers around their homes. People will find them in their houses all the time. Scorpions are a pretty serious problem in Saint George. They are always a dirty mess on the way home, but the hours of fun are totally worth the cleanup. The kids spend hours catching frogs and playing in the sand. Or, if we are skimboarding, playing on top of the falls is fun too. We like to play under the falls (a huge man-made concrete runoff) where it’s just a little bit deeper. But, most of the summer it’s pretty shallow and slow-moving. During the spring, when it’s flowing a little faster, you can get some tubes and float down the river. We love to grab our skimboards, a sunshade, plenty of drinks and spend the day at the river. The virgin river flows right through Saint George on it’s way to Lake Mead. If you don’t live in Saint George, this may be the best-kept secret. I would just say to know your kids’ abilities. Swimmers Itch is an irritating, yet harmless rash caused by the human bodys allergic reaction to. We took kids as young as 5, but they got a little nervous towards the bottom. Swimmers Itch is currently active at Sand Hollow State Park. The BLM website is a great place to find more information – like where to get the permit and directions to the cave. Make sure to bring extra flashlights or headlamps and knee pads wouldn’t hurt. ![]() And, someone with experience is a definite plus. You squeeze through tight spots and climb and crawl. The Bloomington caves are really fun to explore.
